Sadie Koopman
I'm a Washington, D.C.-based actor, singer, and musician who moves between Shakespeare, contemporary drama, and the musical stage -- bringing classical depth, real vocal range, and comic timing that keeps an audience laughing long after the lights go down.
This fall, I'll play Ava in the U.S. premiere of a two-hander play by Alice Stanley Jr. at NextStop Theatre Company. Earlier this year, I played Phoebe in A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder at Olney Theatre Center, and made my Folger Theatre debut in a workshop of a new musical as part of their Reading Room Festival.
I'm originally from Cincinnati, OH, where I grew up with five other musically-inclined siblings -- our family traditions have always involved singing and sharing music, which is what led me to a double major at Oklahoma City University. I graduated with a BM in Musical Theatre and a BM in Vocal Performance.
Directly after graduating, I knew I wanted to start my career inside the vibrant D.C. theatre community. I dove straight into an MFA in Classical Acting with George Washington University at The Shakespeare Theatre Company Academy -- training that's shaped how I approach every role since.
Currently, I'm part of the faculty and staff at The Catholic University of America, and I'm building my own community of artists along the way.
